Comments

'Ison' has been used with moderate success by commercial growers in south Georgia. We only have a single vine of this cultivar, and therefore have only limited data. Because of its medium/large size and productivity, it has been used as a combination juice/fresh market cultivar. Flavor seems to be good as long as crop load matches the vine canopy, but some years the crop load is excessive. Dr. John Clark at the University of Arkansas noted that 'Ison' was extremely susceptible to cold damage. We only recommend trial plantings of 'Ison' in south Georgia.
