Comments
Since its release, 'Fry' has set the standard for fresh fruit quality for bronze muscadines. Most growers are quite familiar with this cultivar. 'Fry' is popular for its large berry size and good flavor, even when picked immature. Yields are good, but like most female cultivars there can be off years. Probably the biggest downside to 'Fry' is its susceptibility to fruit rots, especially ripe rot, and wet stem scars. Growers may wish to try 'Summit' as a replacement. 'Summit' has drier scars, less disease susceptibility, and only a slightly smaller berry size.
